Deep Instinct to Demonstrate Zero-Day Data Security at Black Hat USA and DEF CON 2024
LAS VEGAS and NEW YORK, NY, August 5, 2024 – Deep Instinct, the prevention-first cybersecurity company that stops unknown malware pre-execution with a purpose-built, AI-based deep learning (DL) framework, will showcase its zero-day data security solution in Las Vegas at Black Hat USA 2024 (Mandalay Bay Expo Hall) and DEF CON 32 (Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall) from August 3 – 11.
Enterprise zero-day vulnerabilities are on the rise, with a 64% increase in zero-day attacks in 2023 compared to 2022. These never-before-seen threats continue to disrupt organizations, costing millions in data breach remediation while also impacting brand reputation and security team burnout.
To address this, Deep Instinct recently released Deep Instinct’s Artificial Neural Network Assistant (DIANNA), the first generative AI-powered cybersecurity assistant to provide expert-level malware analysis and explainability for zero-day attacks and unknown threats. Event attendees can meet DIANNA and see the technology in action at Deep Instinct booth #4842 during Black Hat.
“The security market has become oversaturated with legacy point solutions and false AI promises,” said Carl Froggett, CIO of Deep Instinct. “Deep Instinct is different, using deep learning – the most powerful form of AI – to prevent the next zero-day attack from ever entering your environment. We’ve now taken our deep learning capabilities to the next level with DIANNA, alleviating overworked SecOps teams by offering unrivaled explainability into these unknown, sophisticated threats. It’s a major step forward for the industry and a real-world example of AI’s impact in solving problems.”
Additionally, Deep Instinct will host two speaking sessions at the events, including the following:
The Future of Cybersecurity: Embracing Prevention-First Strategies in the Age of Edge AI
Wednesday, August 7 at 2:40 p.m. PT at the Mandalay Bay L - Black Hat
Deep Instinct’s CIO and CISO, Carl Froggett, and VP of Global Sales Engineering, Brian Black, will provide Black Hat attendees with an understanding of the new era of localized Large Language Models (LLMs) amid the advent of Neural Processing Units (NPUs) and Neural Engines in devices from Qualcomm and Apple. They will explore the implications of Edge AI and localized LLMs while highlighting the urgent need for innovative prevention-focused approaches to safeguard against these evolving threats.
SHIM Me What You Got - Manipulating Shim and Office for Code Injection
Saturday, August 10 at 11:00 a.m. PT in LVCC - L1 - HW1-11-04 (Track 4) - DEF CON
At DEF CON, Deep Instinct researchers Ron Ben-Yizhak and David Shandalov will introduce a novel and stealthy technique to apply malicious shims on a process that does not require registry modification or SDB files and leaves no traces on the disk. The reverse engineering of the shim infrastructure will be shown while focusing on an undocumented API and the kernel driver of the infrastructure.
